Tales of the Abyss: our Kickstarter campaign is halfway through!
wo weeks behind us, two weeks ahead of us

Hello, everyone!
We launched our month-long campaign two weeks ago, which means that we still have another two weeks (+ two days) to go. Our campaign is already a success since we've reached our goal 6 days in, but we're still working on spreading the word about our horror comic anthology wherever we can.
And in this update Jean-Marc and I thought it would be neat to tell you a bit more about how Tales of the Abyss came to be. It all started roughly 3 years ago when I decided that in order to practice my comic book writing and to get in touch with some artists, I should write short comic book scripts every month. And that each month I should post a new script to r/ComicBookCollabs for any artist to draw for free.
This approach has been very beneficial to me from the creative side as well as when it comes to making connections. Within these three years I've worked with some really talented artists and Jean-Marc was one of the first as well as one of the most prolific of them all. First he adapted Lost Pet, one of the very first comic book scripts that I've ever written, that mixes noir mystery with Lovecraftian horror. Lost Pet was then soon followed up by Deep Dream, this time focusing on the Lovecraftian horror of the power of dreams.

Seeing how Jean-Marc and I really see eye to eye when it comes to our favorite horror genres, I decided to offer him The Unfathomable Planet – a 10-page retrofuturistic cosmic horror script that I've written a couple of years ago for a comic book anthology that didn't eventually go anywhere.
So now we had three horror comic book stories and when Jean-Marc wanted to draw a forth one, that's when it hit us: why not combine them all into an anthology? And when the anthology is finished, why not put it on Kickstarter so that it could get to as many people as possible? After that Jean-Marc adapted two other short scripts of mine: The Pumpkin, a Halloween family story, and The Church, a more Gothic and old-school fantasy horror tale.
And that's how we got here. Five stories, two creators and one comic book anthology. And if you haven't done so already, please check it out on Kickstarter!
Until next time!
